Hello guys :) welcome back to my blog :)
as usually now, I would like to write some post, about
Subject Verb Agreement. Well, that's my assingment from Miss Dini, she gave us
a task, to download some matrials from her blog, and there's some exercise for
us. She ask us to self study at home. Because she has other interests. Well, I
will explain what I got from that materials, let's check it out ;)
Subject Verb Agreement.
1. First, I will explain what you call that
"Subject". Subject in a simple English is a person/ thing(s)/people,
such as Narwastu is a student. Narwastu is the person or
thing about whom the statement is made, in this case is Narwastu.
2. Second, what do you know about Verb ? Verb is a kind of
word, that tells about action ar a state. Every sentence has a verb.
There are more kind of verbs, but I will explain 3 kind of
verbs.
=> Action Verb
express something that a
person, animal, or object can "do". That’s why we call them action verbs.
Example, Narwastu talks at inappropriate times. Talking is
something Narwastu can do.
=> Linking Verb
The definition of a linking verb
is a grammar term for a verb that connects a subject with a noun or adjective
that is the subject.
* With To Be : is, am, are,
was and were. Example : "They are cold".
* With Verb : look, feel, taste,
etc. Example : "Narwastu looks sad".
=> Helping Verb
Helping verbs are used before
action or linking verbs to convey additional information regarding aspects of
possibility (can, could,will, might, etc.) or time (were, did, has, etc.)
Also Modals is always function as
a Helping Verb.
Example :
* Narwastu is watching
television. (sentence with a present continuous tense)
* Narwastu will make
some post. (will helps the main verb, "make")
